Hannah Sadiki

The Soweto-born, mother of three boys worked as a medical technician for the Institute of Virology before joining the bank in 1987.

Started as a teller and, over the years, worked my way up to heading the bank’s Internet Banking Channels.  In 2002 was promoted as an Area Business Manager, responsible for 7 branches and agencies (Service centres), the span of accountability was sales, service to customers, finances, the operations of the branch as well as people management.  With a compliment of 228 staff with 8 direct reports.  Promoted to provincial Director of the Eastern Cape, in November 2004 till December 2007.

Currently Provincial Director of Gauteng with her prime accountability being to drive the teams to ensure market share growth and customer retention in line with Retail Banking business directives.  Assume direct profit and loss accountability for the Province by planning, driving and managing the delivery of a multi-product/ multi-channel sales and service strategy across the province to attract, grow and retain quality business, in line with Retail Banking profitability objectives and market potential.  To leverage and optimise people, resources, channels, business and risk controls in line with market potential, to maximise business growth, retention and profitability targets for the province.  Ensure that employees remain engaged and committed, and that business partners and customers are satisfied.

As part of recognition within the Retail network, collected a number of performance awards, including the bank’s coveted Rising Star Award for Excellence.  2005 was awarded the ‘Oprah Winfrey Award’ for caring yet confident, results orientated performance which resulted in her becoming the first black woman Provincial Director.  Was awarded Corporate Business Woman of the year 2006 by BWA (Business Woman’s Association) Eastern Cape Province.  Nominated for Pick n’ Pay / Algoa FM Business Person of the year 2007.

A Witwatersrand University Business School Management Development Programme (MDP) and Management Advancement Programme (MAP) graduate.  In 2003 completed an internal management development programme which was run by Gordon Institute of Business Science for the bank (GIBS) called ‘Challenge Programme’, as well as the Certificate in Executive Leadership Development programme managed by Duke Corporate Education on behalf of the bank.  Completed the ‘Certificate in Coaching’ at University of Stellenbosch Business School, through I-Coach Middlesex University. Recently (Oct 2008) had the opportunity to attend the Thunderbird Business School (USA) International Consortium – ‘Managerial issues in the Global Enterprise’ Program.  Achieved Mastery in Professional Coaching with Middlesex University, working towards a Masters Degree.

Served as an executive board member of PERCCI (Port Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce), with a portfolio – ‘2010 within the region’, BWA (Business Woman’s Association) with a portfolio of strategic alliances and advisory board member for the Department of Agriculture in the Eastern Cape Province.  Currently has pleasure to also serve as an advisory board member of MBDA (Municipal Business Development Agency), and Standen South Africa (subsidiary of EISS International) Hospitality management Educations well as Arrepp, Theatre for Life which focuses on developing resilient youth.

Since 2007 whilst studying the Certificate in Coaching at USB, have had the pleasure to work on my coaching practise – during this time formally coached 6 people with successful results and currently still coaching 3 people within the organisation (Standard Bank) and 2 outside the organisation (pro-bono).  In 2008 continued coaching 6 people within the organisation and 2 outside (Simba and VW).  Currently coaching 6 people within the organisation and 2 outside (VW and Public Sector).  Embarked on a journey to be an inspirational speaker on Women in Business and Leadership.  Have addressed the following companies:  SAB; ABI; Standard Bank; BWA PE; CANSA and informal requests at different associates.
