Nelson Mandela Day 2011
The Missionvale Care Centre, in partnership with the MBDA, has once again held its annual "Nelson Mandela Day", on Madiba's birthday, 18 July 2011.
In 2009, Nelson Mandela appealed to all South African citizens to spend 67 minutes helping a fellow South African on the date of his birthday.
The MBDA decided to spend their 67 minutes volunteering at the Missionvale Care Centre this year. |

| "The Mandela Bay Development Agency is proud of Sister Ethel and her team at Missionvale Care Centre for the work that they do to alleviate poverty and to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS on a daily basis. We are excited about our employees doing something on Mandela Day to help the Missionvale Community." says Chuma Myoli, spokesperson for the MBDA. |

Entry cost only R10 and includes a complimentary balloon. All volunteers wrote their own personal message to Madiba on the balloons, which were set free at the end of the 67 minutes.
The money raised goes directly to the Missionvale Care Centre.
The Centre, founded by Sr Ethel Normoyle in 1988, is an interdenominational, non-profit organization committed to providing quality care and support to improve the lives of the people of Missionvale through love, consultation, participation and self-development. |
