MBDA DEPLOYS DRONES AND CCTV TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT DURING VOTING
The Mandela Bay Development Agency has deployed drone and CCTV surveillance infrastructure to support local law enforcement during voting today.
DRONES DEPLOYED
Operations will focus on potential hotspots, and be guided by intelligence communicated by the South African Police Service and information from Ward Councillors. Drones will remain on standby throughout the day to provide both active and reactive surveillance support. They will be deployed where necessary to monitor precincts and provide ground teams with aerial views of any incidents in progress.
CCTV SUPPORT
The MBDA’s CCTV network will also play an important role, with cameras monitoring key routes leading to voting stations.
The third phase of the MBDA’s security infrastructure project in July this year marked a significant investment to strengthen crime prevention and improve emergency response times in Nelson Mandela Bay. The R27 million expansion included the deployment of 360 new CCTV cameras, seven surveillance drones, and more than 40km of fibre-optic infrastructure
