MORE INFO
The MBDA built South Africa’s first pedestrian bridge using composite and steel materials over the Baakens River.
The R10 million project connected Vuyisile Mini Square to the Baakens Precinct, unlocking parking potential on the North bank.
Composite materials were chosen for strength and environmental benefits. Eight local SMMEs shared contracts worth over R2.5 million.
The bridge provides a safe walking route and helped to ease parking congestion in the city.
