Multiple crises present new opportunities for the Bay

Whenever one searches for key moments in history where life changing inventions happened, you are bound to note a common feature, that these inventions, and all of them happened in times of great need, or deep crisis. Not so long ago, the world realised that vaccines could be engineered, tested, and produced safely, taking a fraction of the time they used to take. The unprecedented Covid-19 vaccines race and distribution epitomised humans against time. One can go back more than 3500 years BC, with the famous invention of the ox wagon wheel to modern day penicillin to see how crisis born inventions have impacted generations.

Recycler turns trash to income

The MBDA Recycled Waste Expo, held on the 17th of August, yielded rewarding results for talented recycler, Asanda Nyengane. The Kariega resident was one of the many solution-driven citizens of the Bay that submitted their recycled products in hopes to render an income and prompt environmental awareness.

Artist compliance program offers much needed support

Earlier this year, 100 artists were trained on various business administration and public relations skills at the creatives support program hosted by the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA). The Agency will now host the 2nd phase of the support program, which will focus on compliance administration. 50 emerging local creatives are encouraged to apply by sending their artist profile and 2 contactable reference letters to create@mbda.co.za before the 31st of August 2022.
